Curriculum Vitae

Research Abstract

My philosophical journey started at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. After a few years of taking classes in the sciences I took an introductory Philosophy class and was hooked. I proceeded to change my major from Biology to Philosophy. After graduating from Cal Poly with my BA, I entered corporate America where I worked as a technical writer and trainer for many years. Realizing my true passion in life was Philosophy, I entered the Master’s program at San José State University to hone my philosophical interests and abilities. In the process of obtaining my MA in Philosophy I worked on problems in epistemology, metaethics (esp., moral epistemology) and philosophy of language.

My current topics of interest in epistemology include: the basing relation, belief, closure, contextualism, disagreement, doxastic responsibility, externalism, evidence, fallibilism, justification, knowledge, pragmatic encroachment, epistemic reasons and skepticism. Areas of interest in metaethics include moral judgment, moral epistemology, moral normativity and moral responsibility. In the philosophy of language my interests include assertion, conditionals, propositions, semantics, truth and vagueness. In the philosophy of mind I’m interested in content internalism and externalism, perceptual knowledge, propositional attitudes and self-knowledge.

I have secondary interests in the philosophy of action, philosophy of science, philosophy of probability, philosophical methodology and normative ethics.
