Graduate Student Placement Summary (1997-2007)
|
Over the past decade we've had thirty-eight students receive Ph.D.s. Not all have applied widely for teaching positions in philosophy. Three never looked for teaching jobs at all--they left the field after receiving their degrees.
That leaves twenty-two students with Ph.D.s who have applied widely for teaching positions over the past decade. Eighteen of these have found tenure track jobs. The other four currently have temporary jobs.
Of the eighteen who found tenure track jobs, nine found these jobs their first time on the job market. The other nine spent a year or two (in one case, three years) on temporary jobs first.
Of the four who are currently on temporary jobs, three received their degrees very recently--since spring 2005. The fourth got married while on a temporary job and is no longer searching outside of that geographical area.
