Research

My research has focused until now on Epicurean ethics, especially in Epicurus' own work and that of Philodemus. My primary concern is the role that emotions have in seeking happiness, or as they would have put it, tranquillity. I work both on the more psychological aspects of the question - epicurean therapy, and more broadly ethical discourses -, and on the more epistemological and physical aspects as well - pathos as a criterium of truth, the utmost importance of atoms in the understanding of the epicurean ethical project.
